UPFA chief ministerial candidate Shasheendra Rajapakse, who contested the Moneragala district topped the Uva Province preferential vote list with 1,36,697 preferentila votes (85 per cent) He was followed by R. M. Kumarasiri Ratnayake (44,623), Vijitha Berugoda (35,079), Wimal Galagama Arachchi (29,777), Chandaan Weliwita (26,856), Saliya Sumeda (26,079), Senarath Attanayake (23,930), Udaya Kumara (23, 718) and Dayaratne Bandara (22,366).
The UNP won two slots in the Moneragala district with Tissa Kuttiarachchi (13,049) and Ananda Kumarasiri (10,538) polling the highest number of preferential votes.
Vidanagame leads Badulla list
Anura Ravindra Vidanagame came on top in the Badulla district with 51,309 preferential votes. He was followed by Aktittha Marakkalage Buddadasa (43,913), Rohana Pushpakumara (36,204), D. M. S.W.A. K. Denipitiya 35,380), Manel Ratnayake (31,139), M. H. Sumith Samayadasa (30,558), Sethapena Appuhamuralalage Bandusena (30,080), Mihimal Munasinghe 926,377), Ajith Deshapriya Nilame Wickremeratne (24,743), Arthur Chamara Sampath Dassanayake (24,490), Hema Ratnayake (20,855) and Akalan Sendil Thondamal (20,448).
S. Harin Fernando (36,996) topped the list of UNP winners with Upali Delton Samaraweera (24,739), Don Sunil Jayantha Kannangara (20,328), Karupaiya Velayudam (14,870) and R. Gunawardena (11,220) taking the remaining four slots.
Aravinda Kumar, who contested the Badulla district on the UPF ticket and R. M. Sudath Balagalle of the JVP, too, entered the Uva PC. They polled 7863 and 1696 preferential votes, respectively.
