The Galle police have
arrested five persons including four employees of Mahamodera Hospital
for helping the mother of an infant born at the hospital to sell the
child for Rs. 1,000. Investigations have revealed that the husband of
one of the hospital employees now in custody had taken away the child
after paying the mother Rs. 1,000.Police said that the arrest had
been made subsequent to a complaint lodged at the Baddegama police by
the mother of the woman, who sold her baby.
