Kandy - Trade and
Consumer Affairs Minister Bandula Gunawardana has accepted a challenge
by the Kandy District UNP MP, Lakshman Kiriella for a public debate on
the IMF loan granted to Sri Lanka recently.Minister Bandula
Gunawardana while acknowledging challenge has requested the Chairman of
the Sri Lanka Rupavani Corporation Dr. Ariyaratne Athugala to allocate
an early date and time for the debate.
Minister Gunawardana said he hoped the debate would be of immense
public importance as the UNP was spreading various stories about the IMF
standby facility amounting to 2.6 billion US dollars to be released in
tranches.
