Controversy surrounds a
police claim that a suspect taken in for questioning late last week in
connection with the robbery of a gold chain by the Koswatte police had
taken his life by drinking poison.The police said that the
55-year-old suspect had taken a bottle of poison and consumed it at his
home in the Chilaw police area after the police had taken him there to
recover a gold chain. The police said that the suspect had promised to
hand over the chain snatched from a woman last Thursday at Kirimatiyana.
