Sasheendra Rajapaksa of the United People’s Freedom Alliance, who polled the highest number of votes in the Mahiyangana District, at the recently held UVA Provincial Council elections, was yesterday sworn in as Chief Minister of the Uva Province by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The new Chief Minister is the Basnayake Nilame of the Ruhunu Kataragama Maha Devalaya and son of Minister of Ports and Aviation Chamal Rajapaksa.
