Be dedicated to your duty says CP governor to new recruits

KANDY - "Attitudes of some public servants cannot be changed. They are rigid and do not respond to change," said Central Provincial Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa when handing over letters of appointments to a new batch of Agriculture Instructors to serve in the Central Provincial Ministry of Agriculture.

Kobbakaduwa advised the recruits not to emulate such workers but to work with dedication for the welfare of the people without engaging in corrupt practices.

"Be prepared to work in any part of the Central Province. Do not question whether the appointment was to a difficult area or a urban locality. Do not demand transfers to urban areas no sooner you are appointed to a particular place," Kobbekaduwa said.

Public servants were paid by the people. They should serve the people in any part of the country.

"Do a genuine job. Do not limit agriculture development to statistics and multi media presentations at seminars and workshops," Governor Kobbekaduwa said. He warned the new batch of Agriculture Instructors saying the people could not be fooled . The era that agriculture received step-motherly treatment was over, he said.

This is a new era in the history of Sri Lanka with its liberation from thirty years of terrorism owing to the great interest taken by President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the heroic members of the forces

Central Province Agriculture Minister Nimal Piyatissa said, the foremost duty of the public servants was to think of the motherland and do their best to the development of the country.

The use of the strike weapon by the public servants was common in the country and in the state health sector the strikes had turned out to be a deadly weapon.

Secretary to the Governor Gamini Disanayake, Chairman Provincial Public Service Commission S. B. Beddewala and several others were present.
