Without blaming the school or its teachers over the recent suicide of a school girl I wish to draw attention to something that requires immediate attention. It would appear that the child who attempted suicide was taken to the hospital with the necktie still tight over her neck. Perhaps none of the teachers are trained in First Aid. My wife tells me that in her days in school the teachers and even the older girls were given training in First Aid by St. John’s Ambulance Brigade according to her memory.
I suggest that at least one teacher in every school should be trained in First Aid and a first aid kit be made available.
