Nalinda heroics book Anthonians’ maiden quarter final berth

Left hander Prabath Nalinda scored a blistering knock of 158 runs in 127 balls, inclusive of 18 fours and five sixes, for St. Anthony’s College, Wattala as they scored a thrilling 120 run victory over Revata College, Balapitiya in their pre quarter final match played at Wattala yesterday.

Yesterday’s victory earned the Anthonians a quarter final berth, which according to a school official is the first occasion they entered this stage in the Division I tournament.

Bowlers guide Joes to quarter finals

Bowlers Supechala Jayathilaka, Hemantha Jayasundara, Dinal Dhambarage and Rosco Thatil shared two wickets a piece for St. Joseph’s College to restrict St. Anthony’s College, Katugastota to 96 runs and record a 89 runs victory in their Inter School Under-17 Division I pre quarter final match played at Darley Road yesterday. The match was a 34 overs affair.

St. Joseph’s 185 all out in 34 overs (Keshan Perera 26, Nishitha Perera 61, Chathuranga Kumara 42, Supechala Jayathilaka 16; Tharaka Jayasinghe 2/43, Aruna Bandara 2/42)

Nalanda edge out arch rivals

Nalanda College beat defending champions and arch rivals Ananda College by seven wickets in a reduced-over pre quarter final match in the Under-17 Division I tournament played at Ananda Mawatha yesterday.

Bad weather reduced the match to 23 overs per side.

Nalanda chasing 81 runs to win in 23 overs, achieved the target in the 15th over for the loss of three wickets.

Mahanama disappoint Yasoda

A century by Yasoda Lanka (106 in 92 balls) for Richmond College went in vain as Mahanama College eared a hard fought four wickets victory in their pre quarter final match played at Kotte yesterday.
