Lankan sets world record

Wasanth Soysa (49), a resident of Anuradhapura, yesterday set a new Guinness world record by breaking 12 slabs of concrete in one blow with his head. He broke the record set in 2008 by a Norwegian national, Narve Laeret, who had broken seven concrete slabs.

World Guinness Committee representative, North Central Sports Director K. B. E. S. Muthugala was present at the Panorama Hotel in Anuradhapura, where Wasantha set the new record.

Wasantha Soysa previously set a Guinness World Record by breaking 522 clay tiles. He hopes to create a new world record by breaking ten Guinness World Records in a single day.

Chief Minister of the North Central Province Karunaratne Divulgane, Anuradhapura High Court Judge K. H. Sumithrapala, Anuradhapura District Secretary H. M. K. Herath, Chief Representative of Kyokushin Karate’s World Karate Organization in Sri Lanka Piyaratne Mutukumarana were present on the occasion.
