"Sharing experiences on  rehabilitation of sick businesses"
MBSL is organising an awareness programme on an appropriate topic in the current economic situation of the country "Sharing experiences on
rehabilitation of sick businesses" which will be held at the Galle Face Hotel on 29 September 2009 from 4.00 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Turbulent economic times are making many organizations to consider restructuring in order to improve profitability and growth. A restructuring process gives a fresh look at the business drivers while expanding certain parts of your business and contraction of other sections of the business. However, restructuring a business should add value to your organization else if the redesign is rejected, it could lead to a drop which is below the current level.

Rehabilitation is a risky decision and various number of factors influence it. Businesses which reorganize themselves for the future can face turbulent environments in a much more organised manner and risk management will be more structured. In addition by the end of the process organizations are more focused on business drivers which generate more shareholder return whilst reducing the non-core activities.

The awareness programme organised by MBSL is a unique opportunity which will share with participants practical experiences applied for real life cases. Further, this programme will enhance knowledge on rehabilitation of sick businesses that delivers for corporate success.

The key note address will be delivered by Janaka Ratnayake, Chairman - Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka PLC while the main speaker to this event is Gamini Karunathilake, Chief Executive Officer of Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka PLC.

Both speakers will share the recent Sri Lankan experiences on how rehabilitation of sick businesses were effectively implemented by Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka PLC during a period of 10 to 15 years.
