Many government employees
suffer from diabetes, high blood pressure, heart ailments and eye
problems. Spokesman for the Health Ministry said yesterday (09), that
there were many public employees who suffered from skin diseases as
well.
He said that these facts had come to light during a mobile clinic
carried out by the National Hospital on Tuesday (08). Many women in the
government sector too show signs of being susceptible to breast and
cervical cancers. The sad part being many of their illnesses reaching a
serious stage for failing to take proper care of themselves, the
spokesman said.
The National Hospital plans on conducting a spate of such mobile
clinics, the programme been initiated for government employees at the
Kolonnawa Government Industry. But doctors of the Hospital plan on
conducting similar programmes at departmental level.
The mobile clinic included clinics for diabetes, Suwanari (Healthy
women), dental, skin and eye. While arrangements were also made for ECG
tests, the spokesman said.
