It interested me to read the story presented by Nury Vittachi in ‘The Island’ of 8th instant. (‘Goal D Lox and the war between subs and spell checkers’)
The spell check on your computer is extremely useful and highly sophisticated. But numerous are the instances it has misled me which is why I have now learned never to totally depend on it.
According to my spell checker on the word processor, the following poem has been spelt perfectly correctly!
Eye halve a spelling chequer – It comes with my pee sea!
It plainly marcs four my revue – Miss steaks eye kin not sea.
As soon as mist ache is maid – It nose bee fore two long,
And eye can put the error rite – Its rare lea ever wrong.
Eye strike a key and type a ward – And weight fore it two say,
Weather eye am wrong oar write – It shows me strait a weigh.
Eye halve run this poem threw it – I am shore your pleased two no,
Its letter perfect awl the weigh – My checquer tolled me sew.
