Indian team left stranded in Madras before arriving in Colombo
The Indian cricket team had to be flown to Colombo from Madras via Bangalore by a special aircraft after the players couldn’t take the Jet Airways flight that was scheduled to fly them due to a strike by its pilots.

"We have operated a Boeing 737-800 of our budget airline to take the Indian team that was stranded at Chennai airport after their Jet flight was cancelled," Air India spokesman V. Chandrashekar was quoted as saying by Indian news agencies.

There were no major delays as the Indian team arrived on time despite the setback ahead of their first game of the Compaq series on Friday.

Most of the Indian cricketers including coaching staff boarded the aircraft in Madras, but captain M.S Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, R.P. Singh and Suresh Raina, who represented Air India in the final match of the inaugural BCCI Corporate Trophy in Bangalore on Tuesday, boarded the flight from the South Indian city international airport.

The special flight safely arrived in Colombo at 1.55 p.m.
