U-17 cricket tour from Australia from next Fri. (18)

There will be an Under-17 cricket tour of The Young Cricketers Development and International Experience Programme (TYCDIEP) from Australia starting next Friday (Sep. 13).

This will be an eight-day international cricket tour. The TYCDIEP team is scheduled to play four tour matches in Sri Lanka. The matches will be held in Rangiri - Dambulla International Cricket Stadium, Galle International Stadium and in Colombo. There will be a practice match played at Dharmaraja College, Kandy .

The TYCDIEP is a part of a media organization named SNNI based in Melbourne that supports junior cricket and helps the young cricketers to play overseas countries to gain international experience in cricket outside Australia.

The programme is headed by Johann D. Jayasinha and Vernon Tissera in Australia. The Team Manager is Peter Mathison. Cricket Australia accredited coaches, Gordon King, who will be the touring party Head Coach, and Shaun Petri, the Assistant Coach, will also make part of the team.

Schedule –

The first game will be played in Dambulla against an Under-17 Northern Provincial team of Sri Lanka Cricket. The next match will be in Galle against the SLC Under-17 Southern Province team. There will be two exhibition Twenty-20 matches at Richmond College, Galle, and in Colombo, against St. Joseph ’s College, Colombo.

The 24-member touring team has 16 players coming from the DDCA and country cricket in the State of Victoria .
