Excellent service provided by the KTH staff of ward No. 23

I was warded at the Kandy teaching hospital in ENT-Ward No. 23 for 5 days from 22nd August 2009, for a "Septoplasty" surgery to clear my Nasal passage.

I was highly taken up by the excellent service provided by the Doctors, Nurses, attendants and others. The whole staff in Ward No. 23 was very kind and courteous to patients. They addressed the patients as Seeya, Aiya, Malli and Putha.

The wards, toilet and bathroom are cleaned twice a day. The so called "hospital smell" that we were used to, was not there.

I was to enter the class-1 paying ward after the preliminary investigations in ward No. 23. I gave up that idea after observing the excellent service provided in ward No. 23, which is a non-paying ward. The post-operative care was superb, as the nurses came regularly and carried out my nasal dressing. I also reliably understand that the post-operative care in Ward No. 23 is far superior than in the paying ward.

It had the feeling of being in a private nursing home. What else can patients expect from a Government hospital other than the above services?

I would like to thank the consultant ENT-Surgeon, Anaesthetist, other doctors, nurses and attendants of Ward 23 for providing me an excellent service.

Dr. R. Sundararajah,
Mawilmada,
Kandy.
