The Lak Mal Show (Mid
Year) will be held on a grand scale from 24th to 27th September 2009
from 9.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. daily at Vihara Maha Devi Park, Colombo 7.
The most prominent horticulturists in Sri Lanka will be exhibiting their
plants in competition with each other at this show. Many varieties of
ornamental foliage plants, which are new to Sri Lanka, new Orchid
varieties and other flowering plants etc. will be on show at this event.
There will be a series of lectures by experienced growers on various
subjects. The lecture on the 25th September 2009 at 3.00 p.m. will be on
‘Anthurium Growing’ to be delivered by Mrs. Judy Amadoru. There will be
a special presentation on ‘The experiences I have had in Orchid Growing
over a period of 48 years’ by Mr. L. S. Wanigatunga on the 26th
September 2009 at 10.00 a.m. This would be a highly educational
experience for all the Sri Lankan Orchid growers. On the 27th at 10.00
a.m. Mrs. Ramya Gunatilaka will address on ‘Growing of Ornamental
Foliage Plants & Flowering Plants’. There will be 80 trade stalls
selling plants of different varieties including fruit and herbal plants
and 10 trade stalls selling fertilizer, agrochemicals, pots, pet fish,
local sweets etc. This is an event not to be missed by the entire
family.
