Trap gun goes off  injuring Wildlife guard

The police said that a guard attached to Anuradhapura office of the Wildlife Department had been wounded by an accidental discharge of a trap-gun near Periyankalla tank, Palugama in the Anuradhapura district yesterday (September 23) morning.

The police identified the victim as H. B. A. Nissanka. Sources said that the weapon had been placed by a gang involved in illicit felling of trees. Sources added that Nissanka had been with a group of Wildlife personnel hunting for the gang.
