EZY SLIMTOP – The new generation of desktop computers, which were unveiled recently by Dubai based EZY Infotech who set up operations through the BOI in February 2009, exported their first consignment of 600 Slim Tops to Pakistan on 9 September.

"In February this year, we set up Sri Lanka’s first ever state of the art automated computer manufacturing facility with a promise to provide quality computers at an affordable price. Today we are proud to announce that our first export order left the shores of Sri Lanka for Pakistan" said CEO EZY Holdings, Shafraz Hamzadeen.

EZY Infotech has appointed two distributors in Pakistan for their entire range of computers, namely Decent Computers in Lahore who have placed an initial order of 600 PCs and Optimum Technologies in Karachi who placed an order for 500 PCs.

"Pakistan is a large country, having the second largest economy in Asia; this is the reason we targeted Pakistan as our first export destination. Furthermore it is a large country with diverse attributes and needs, hence we are confident that the EZY range could revolutionize the computer industry there".

Hamzadeen went on to say that they hoped to export around 4000 computers a month to Pakistan. "Both Decent Computers as well as Optimum Technologies were in Sri Lanka for the launch of the EZY Slim Top and have visited the manufacturing facility, hence they are confident of the quality of the products and have expressed an interest in marketing the entire range of EZY computers".

He stressed the fact that this was not a mere ‘one time deal’, but an ongoing commitment, with both distributors being genuinely interested in increasing their orders and thus revolutionizing Pakistan’s computer industry.

EZY Holdings are also focusing on the Asian market, barring India where they already have a manufacturing plant and a very strong presence.

"We have a very aggressive marketing strategy with regards to our exports and in fact are currently in the process of appointing a distributor for Bangladesh. We also have plans for entering the Maldives, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, New Zealand and Australia," he said.

Hamzadeen said that the biggest competition they faced was from China as they too manufactured low cost computers. "However China has one great drawback with respect to their internal transportation, where sometimes it takes as much as three weeks for goods to reach the nearest port from the manufacturing plant".

In Sri Lanka, an EZY computer bearing the ‘made in Sri Lanka’ tag could be sent to the country of export within 10 days of manufacture. "In other words, an EZY computer exported from Sri Lanka, could be sold within that particular country even before a Chinese computer leaves the Chinese port".

With regards to future plans, Hamzadeen said that they would continuously work on innovating their designs and providing reliable computers at an affordable price. "In today’s tough times, customers no matter what part of the world they may be in, want value for money and this is precisely what we are offering them".
