

A high profile six-member delegation from the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industries & Agricultures (MCCIA) today concludes a four-day visit to Sri Lanka focusing on developing and strengthening business ties between Sri Lanka and the Pune region in India.
The Indian High Commission here said in a news release that Pune was a leading hub of the Indian automotive and IT industries and the delegation was led by Mr. Mukesh Malhotra, the Chamber’s President who is also Managing Director Weikfield Products Co.(I) Ltd.
The visiting delegation signed a MOU for mutual cooperation with the Federation of Chambers and Industries in Sri Lanka during the visit after discussions promoting trade and investment.
Its members had one and one meetings with interested counterparts in Sri Lanka’s business community, the high commission said.
It said the Chamber is a leading regional body from Pune in Mahratta representing industries from that region within Maharashtra State in particular and India in general.
The Chamber was established in 1934 for enhancing entrepreneurship in Maharashtra with a vision to facilitate the transformation of Pune as a premier destination for industry, trade, commerce and agriculture.
With more than 2,800 members from a cross section of industry and business in the region including leading companies like Bajaj Auto, Bharat Forge, Kirloskars, Cummins, Finolex and a host of other large and micro small and medium enterprise (MSME) companies as well as professionals, agriculture and agri-business bodies and educational institutes.
The Chamber’s membership includes professionals, agriculture and agri-business bodies and educational institutions.
