More rat fever victims in Kalutara

There has been an increase in the number of victims of ‘;Leptospirosis’, widely known as rat-fever, in the Kalutara District. Kalutara health authorities recently detected 23 persons affected by it.

This water borne disease is rapidly spreading in Henetiyangala, Gamagoda, Seruvita, Maha Waskaduwa, and Kalamulla villages.

The Public Health Inspector (Administration) of Kalutara National Health Institute of Health Science has taken steps to arrest the spread of rat-fever in the area. Hand-bills and a public address system was utilized to educate the people to take precautionary measures to avoid contacting the disease.
