China’s Siyu Qin clinches girls’ singles title
The 15-year-old Peoples Republic of China player Siyu Qin, who is ranked 779 in the world at present, won the coveted girls’ singles title of the Week-1 segment in the two-week long ITF Under-18 Tennis at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association hard courts, Colombo.
Qin, the seventh seed of Week-1, beat bottom seeded Indian lass, Tarrannum Handa, 14, in a three-set final on Friday.
Sri Lankan boys’ pair of Thangarajah Dineshkanthan and Amresh Jayawickrema meanwhile won the Week-1 doubles title thrashing strong favourites, Zhaoyi Cao and Jun Nan Tao, in straight sets.
