Shaiyanne Malik is back in Sri Lanka to take the fashion arena by storm! Having done a show four years ago, after much persuasion, she is back to showcase her designer wear in her inimitable theatrical manner very different to the norm. The fluid grace of the sari is showcased on the ramp at the ‘Mystique of the Saree’, a unique fashion show which is being held at the King’s Court Ballroom, Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo on Sunday, 18 October 2009. This show traces the history of this alluring garment and its pervasive influence throughout the world; as well as its on-going love affair with the world of fashion, in particular, the Saree.

From intricate embroidery to stunning gold threadwork; from beads and sequins to every imaginable hue; this show promises designs of superb workmanship that would undoubtedly enchant the audience!  

Shaiyanne Malik is no stranger to Colombo, having held many fashion shows in the city for over eight years. Her name is synonymous with Pakistani fashion! A lawyer by qualification and a designer by choice, her passion for colour, fabric and embroidery made her abandon the humdrum of the courtroom and enter the glamorous realm of couture. She plays uninhibitedly with colour and works her magic into ensembles fit for royalty. Her resplendent recreations of bridal and formal wear have brought her name and fame at home and abroad. Shaiyanne works from two outlets in Karachi; one carries her couture and bridal line, while the other, her prêt and formal line. She also has outlets in Dubai, Canada and New York. She has had innumerable shows abroad.  

Shaiyanne loves to work on theme shows because each topic brings with it the excitement of discovery, making the design of ensembles so much more challenging and exciting. Her latest collection, designed especially for this extravaganza, promises to be a fascinating experience. Together with the assistance of Geraldine who is responsible for the coordination of the show, and Nadine Salons who will provide the hair and make up for the models, once again you will be witness to a one of its kind event and one that will be remembered for a long while to come.
