Kotelawala allowed bail
Passport impounded

The Supreme Court yesterday granted bail in Rs. 5 million cash and Rs. 100 million surety, with five sureties each, to the Chairman of the Ceylinco Group of Companies Dr. Lalith Kotelawala and Mrs. P. Karunanayake, a Director of the Golden Key Credit Card Company Pvt. Ltd.The Court stipulated that the sureties should be tax payers who are resident in Sri Lanka.

The Court ordered that Dr. Kotelawala and Mrs. Karunanayake make a prior declaration on oath that they would not use any green card, travel document, visa, or a passport to leave Sri Lanka.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who is in Vietnam on a three-day official tour, visited the Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi and laid a wreath at the monument. President Rajapaksa also visited the President Ho Chi Minh relic area at the Presidential Palace and the Temple of Literature in Hanoi. He also had a moment to enjoy the traditional Vietnamese music and feed the fish at the Temple River with his delegation including ministers Prof. G.L. Peiris, Rohitha Bogollagama, Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, Western Province Governor Alavi Maulana and President’s Additional Secretary Gamini Senarath.
