From Pakistan Shaiyanne Malik returned to Sri Lanka after four years to weave her spell with the saree and wrap them in many a style. The show took place at the newly re-decoration Ballroom of the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel. As I caught only the tailend of the show, talking to members of the full house present after the show said they were enchanted with the embroidery, the sequin and bead work with many of them among whom was the executive of the hotel Yasmin Cader, who has a refined taste in fashion spoke of a white saree with hole black floral applique on the pallu bordered in a narrow edge in red and silver.

For the evening Shaiyanne wore a pink saree worked in silver sequins draped in the Gujarati style with a silver sleeveless kid leather blouse, and a stunning pair of pendent earrings. A friend Sunila who has with her husband Thilak de Zoysa are Shaiyanne’s fans wore a Shaiyanne creation of a salwar kameez in black brocade elaborately worked at the neckline and in front in copper and gold. The black dupatta was striped and she too had long earrings on.
