In an article under the above caption in The Island recently, Ramesh Ekanayake said, "There is nothing wrong in displaying one’s beauty in a decent way".
What does he mean by ‘a decent way’?
There is no consensus on that matter. When girls raise their hemlines, discard their outer garments, come out in their lingerie, wear even the saree in the most provocative way – showing off tight fitting blouses, or with no blouse at all to talk about–– who can talk of ‘a decent way’?
On the other hand, women are capable of much more than men mentally and emotionally, if not stronger physically. Even physically they are capable of certain things that men are incapable of like childbearing and breast feeding. They must be admired for these and not their mere beauty which is but skin deep.
Their beauty may be appreciated by their spouses but not in its isolation.
