Samaratunga spins second eight wicket haul

Left-arm leg-spinner Anushka Samaratunga produced his second eight wicket haul in consecutive matches for Isipatana College to restrict S. Thomas’ College to a paltry 87 runs in their Inter School Under-19 match which commenced at Colts Ground yesterday.

In a 26 over spell (8 maidens) Samaratunga picked up eight wickets giving away just 39 runs. The spinner picked up his first eight wicket haul in the team’s match against Joseph Vaz, a week ago.

In their essay, Isipatana were 33 for 3 wickets when rain prematurely ended the first day’s play.

Chathuranga reaches 500 run mark

St. Joseph’s College all rounder Chathuranga Kumara went pass the 500 run mark for the season with a blistering 142 runs (123 balls) inclusive of 21 fours and two sixes on the first day of their Inter School match against St. Sylvester’s College at Police Ground Kandy yesterday.

St. Servatius recover

Oshan Kalhara (85) and Kasun Madusanka (22) anchored the late middle order for St. Servatius’ College to post 154 for eight wickets in their match against Carey College which began at Uyanwatte Stadium yesterday.

Lakruwan hits run a ball century

A run a ball century from Thilina Lakruwan for Bandaranaike College and Thamel brothers Ruwantha and Sajan sharing nine wickets for St. Xavier’s College were the highlights on the first day of the match between the two schools which commenced at Gampaha yesterday.

Madushan hits half century

Ayesh Madushan top scored with a half century for Holy Cross College to help his team post 148 for four wickets against Kingswood College before rain ended the first day’s play early in their match which commenced at Kalutara yesterday.

Sri Sumangala College, Kandy were wobbling at 29 for seven wickets in reply to Asoka Vidyalaya’s 266 for six wickets declared in their match which commenced at Mahara Prison Ground yesterday.
