Rupees 5 Mn cash bail paid in favour of GK director

A sum of rupees five million cash bail was yesterday paid to the custody of the Supreme Court Registrar in favour of Mrs. Padmini Karunanayake, Director of Golden Key Credit Card Company, who was taken into remand custody in connection with the complaint made by the aggrieved depositors of the Golden Key Credit Card Company.

On October 23, 2009, the Supreme Court granted bail to Lalith Kotalawela, Chairman GK and Mrs. Karunanayake, Director. The bail was in Rs. five million cash, five sureties and Rs. 100 million certified bail.

These people are to disclose their assets in sworn affidavits. Their passports were impounded.

Five sureties signed in yesterday for Mrs. Karunanayake. The certified bail bond is yet to be signed. Thereafter the Supreme Court Registrar will authorise the committal for the release of the remandee.
