Professor G. L. Peiris, Minister of Export Development and International Trade, met with leading German entrepreneurs and Sri Lankan companies having extensive trading links with Germany to discuss modalities for expansion of the trade relationship between the two countries in the new situation in Sri Lanka, with the establishment of peace and stability.

He discussed with the entrepreneurs present the visit to Sri Lanka by 50 leading business personalities from Germany during the period October 30 November 4, 2009.

He said that this indicated an unprecedented level of enthusiasm on the part of prominent German companies, with regard to making use of trade opportunities in Sri Lanka.

There was an informal discussion about the strengthening of the Sri Lankan German trade relationship.
