Hilton Residence will again have its annual fun run event on November 15 9 am

Last year, about 250 people participated. This year expected number, will, at least be 500, said General Manager Hilton Colombo Residence, Manesh Fernando.

The route will take runners through Union Place, T. B. Jaya Mawatha or Darley Road, as popularly known, then on to McCallum Road, or D. R. Wijewardena Mawatha to Malay street through Sir Chittampalam Gardiner Mawatha, and back to the Hilton through Rifle Street. Six kilometers at completion of the distance. Although most would be in serious competition, well, almost; there would yet be quite a number who’d enjoy the ‘fun run’, just for fun.

Fun running will be all it promises to be. There will be the keep-fit buffs who’d likely ‘puff’ their way through to win the prize. All told just one would win.( Considering expected participation there would be prizes each for different age groups. A nominal fee would be charged)

Mobitel is the main sponsor and its CEO Suren Amarasekera said that Hilton and his company have always been good partners. More so, the Hilton and its international brand prestige, and Mobitel projecting its strong marketing strategy have more or less united in this instance to foster the event this year in an atmosphere of peace.

The ‘Fun Run’ continued to attract participants over the past approximately five or six years and competitors on record have included many from the Diplomatic Corps, those with business clout, children, teens, and just people out for a good day of fun and something else to do on a Saturday.

At discussion time, Amarasekera said Mobitel had established its unassailable profitability position; more or less indicating its strengths in the rough and tumble of mobile phone competition.
