He  sleep-walks to eath
A construction worker who walked in his sleep on the third floor of a building under construction in Colombo had a fatal fall.

This was revealed at the inquest into the death of Weddikaralage Lakhsman Jayamanne (34) a resident of Kagollagama, held by City Coroner Edward Ahangama yesterday.

Giving evidence at the inquest Sakkulam Vengadasalan said both he and Jayamanne had been employed as construction workers in Kollupitiya.

The victim had been warned against sleeping on the third floor as it was not lit during night. But, he had preferred to sleep on that particular floor after finding his way up there with the help of the light on his mobile phone.

The witness said on the day of the incident, around 7.20 pm, he had heard a loud thud and later found the victim, who said he had fallen while walking in his sleep.

The postmortem revealed that the victim had died of abdomen injuries sustained in a fall.

A verdict of accidental death was returned.

PC 45915 Nandapala assisted by PS 27689 Pathirana led evidence.
