KANDY – Students of the
Peradeniya University attacked a group of the Sri Lanka Coconut
Development Board (SLCDB) employees and their families leaving 15 of
them injured within the university premises on Saturday. Irate students
claimed that the victims had been consuming liquor and disposing of
polythene and other waste material haphazardly on the campus.The
attack took place opposite the Jayatilake Hall of Residence.
In the clash four private buses transporting the SLCDB employees and
their family members were damaged.
The Peradeniya police conducting investigations said some of the
victims were drunk.
