Navy Commander looks into welfare of
civilians resettled in North
Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe visited the Northern Naval Area on October 29. During the visit, he met civilians now resettled in their original places of residence in the northern islands under the naval purview and looked into the social, educational and welfare schemes being implemented there.

The Commander of the Navy also met members of the local fishing communities and fishing society leaders of the Velanai Fishing Marsha lling Point. Facilities for fishing activities were discussed in detail in addition to other activities. He inquired into the issues faced by the local fishermen and gave directions to the naval official regarding assistance to local fishing communities in the area. The fishing community said their living conditions had improved. AGA of Velanai Mr. M. Nandagoapalan, Dr. Priyantha Senevirathna of Velanai Government Hospital and Chairman of the Velanai Fisheries Society Mr. S. Karthikethu also took part in the visit.
