Ven. Maunawe Medhalanka thera on Saturday (Oct 31) succumbed to injuries sustained in an elephant attack. The police said that an elephant tied at the premises of the Natha Devalaya had attacked the monk when he approached the elephant. Sources said that the monk was rushed to the Kandy General Hospital but doctors failed to save his life.
