Today Sri Lankans are
enjoying freedom due to the annihilation of terrorism. This took several
years and had to overcome a lot of national and international blocks. In
clearing the path to success, the greatful citizens of Sri Lanka would
recollect the valuable role played by the then Foreign Minister Lakshman
Kadiragamar. His mission was to liberate the country from terrorists and
he was able to overturn the myths that were prevalent at the time. This
paved the way to the overwhelming victory achieved by the government. He
was an exemplary character and will go down in the history of Sri Lanka
as a genuine hero.Sri Lankans are very grateful to him and will not
forget his role. He should be honoured and should be dearly remembered
by all of us. It is disheartening to note that his statue was not given
its proper place in the city. I therefore request the state to erect a
statue in memory of this great leader in the most suitable place in the
city of Colombo and name Important places after him so that future
generations would remember this great leader.
