The oarsmen from University of Moratuwa made a late recovery to win the 26th Inter-University Regatta beating University of Colombo 26 points to 16 at the Beira Lake Waters in Colombo Rowing Club, yesterday

The Colombo rowers started well and were leading 16-14 just before the boat race, the last race of the day and the one that offered most number of points - 12. The Moratuwa lads clocked 3 minutes and 34 seconds to collect 12 points and win this year’s annual Regatta.

The University of Moratuwa won the ‘B’ scull, ’A’ scull, ‘B’ pair and the boat race while the University of Colombo won the ‘A’ pair and ‘B’ fours events.

Meanwhile the women’s category, which offers no points, was dominated by the oarswomen of the University of Colombo. They won all four events in the women’s category - namely the ‘A’ Scull, ‘B’ Scull, ‘A’ four and the boat race.
