Three phials of Prometracin – an antibiotic with pieces of glass were found at the accident ward of the Tangalle Base Hospital.

A nurse in the hospital found pieces of glass inside the phials.

The Medical Superintendent checked the stores found 17 more phials of the same anti-biotic past its shelf life.

The entire stock of Prometracin injection phials has been sent to Colombo Medical laboratory.
