Sri Lanka cricket coach Trevor Bayliss is confident his team’s excellent form in Test cricket over the last 24 months will enable them to record their first ever win in Test cricket in India when the team tours the neighbouring country later this month for a three match series. The tour will also include five One-Day Internationals and two T-20 Internationals.
"We have been practicing for the last few weeks and most of the boys are playing clubs games and everyone is looking forward for the series. Touring India is one of the biggest challenges for any team. We have done well in Test cricket in the last couple of years and the boys are quite confident that they can come up with a positive result in the series," Bayliss told ‘The Island’ yesterday.
After this Test series, for the whole of next year, Sri Lanka are scheduled to play only two Test Matches – against West Indies at home and that remained a concern for Bayliss.
"The board is trying to organize a few more games for next year. However, next year is the one leading up to the World Cup and we have to be careful not to have an overdose of Test cricket and concentrate on ODIs," Bayliss added.
