UNP MP Range Bandara yesterday launched a protest at the entrance to Parliament with his three children demanding an immediate inquiry into the recent destruction of his house in the Chilaw police area. UNP and Opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, who joined Bandara, said that the government had failed to apprehend the gang responsible for the attack though the MP provided information regarding the attack. Bandara vowed to continue protests until the police brought the perpetrators before a Court of law. However, Bandara’s first wife who had arrived at the scene took her children away insisting that they should not be dragged into political protests. (Pic Kamal Bogoda)
