Amrith Masala Talk on Vijira Road, Colombo 5 serves authentic Indian food from both the north and south of India. This ideally located restaurant has been open for 5 years and is one of the leading Indian restaurants in Colombo, popular with locals, Indians and tourists alike.
Since the end of the war tourism is booming commented Pradeep Antony General Manager of Amrith, and the restaurant is feeling the benefit of this influx of tourists, in particular during the weekends when the restaurant sees its largest intake of diners. Due to the secure circumstances in the country many Indians are venturing to Sri Lanka and a taste of home is all they need to make their stay on this beautiful island perfect.
Amrith offers customers dining possibilities both up and downstairs with a total seating capacity of about 140. Lunch is served from 11.30am to 3pm and dinner from 6.30pm till 11pm. Most people make reservations, only 30% of customers being walk-ins. As well as serving their delicious Indian cuisine, the restaurant also has two enclosed VIP areas, a shisha lounge, and caters for parties outside of the restaurant; "the customer is our number one priority" stated Pradeep.
The restaurants chef is Indian which adds to the authenticity of the dining experience at Amrith. Cuisine from both the north and south of India are served, biriyani, dosai and wadai being among the most popular dishes. A recent venture of the restaurants together with Chico and Takdeer is Night Bazaar, a late night eatery which provides hungry passersby with a tasty snack to appease their appetite.
Ample parking ensures customers don’t have to go in search of secure parking when eating at Amrith. Food promotions are something the restaurant are just beginning to run with a biriyani festival planned for the first week of December. These types of ventures can be introduced thanks to the steady increase of customers and stability of business enjoyed by Amrith particularly over the past few months.
