Arrested with forged currency note

A person alleged to have tendered a counterfeit Rs. 1,000 note to purchase fruits has been taken into custody by the Weligama Police.

The shop owner, who felt suspicious about the Rs. 1,000 note tendered for fruits worth Rs. 75, had informed the Police.

The person who was taken into custody was a 27-year-old person from Kokmaduwa.

Further investigations are being carried out by the OIC of the Weligama Police, Mahesh Kumarasinghe.
