Education Minister Susil Premajayantha yesterday said that a certificate of proficiency would be issued to all students who scored over 80 marks in the Grade Five Scholarship examination.
The minister told Parliament that the existing system of categorising students as ‘passed’ or ‘failed’ on the basis of cut-off marks used to select students to popular schools affected children and their parents mentally. He was responding to query raised by JVP MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake. (SI)
