The supplementary accounts allocation of Rs 2.3 billion for President Mahinda Rajapaksa includes provision for 21 essential services as well, Information and Media Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa said.
Addressing the monthly press briefing at the Information Department yesterday, he said the allegation by Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna Parliamentarian Sunil Handunhetti that the money would be used solely by the President and for the Presidential Elections was baseless, as the Rs. 2.3 billion would be used for Presidential Special Commissions, President’s welfare, SEMA, renovation activities, salaries and other expenditures as well.
Yapa said that during the demonstration of undergraduates in front of the Temple Trees, the police officials had been extremely cautious.
The undergraduates however, were boisterous and uncontrollable and they started attacking buses.
