The National Freedom Front (NFF) yesterday suffered an unexpected setback when its General Secretary Nandana Gunatilleke, MP quit as General Secretary as well as the politburo of the JVP offshoot. The NFF’s National Organiser Kamal Deshapriya, too, quit the post.
Sources told The Island that Gunatilleke would join the SLFP. Responding to our queries, sources said that Gunatilleke’s move had caused a major rift in the NFF amidst speculation that more NFF members could switch allegiance to the SLFP ahead of forthcoming parliamentary elections.
