A large number of private cars, vans, three wheelers etc.are now seen parked under the newly constructed ‘Fly Over’ at Dehiwela junction.

Aren’t the relevant authorities aware of the potential security risks involved? After all, we still read and hear about the discovery of hidden explosives on a regular basis. What is the guarantee against such lethal cargo finding its way under the ‘Fly Over’ in the guise of a parked vehicle? Isn’t it being naïve to believe that such security risks don’t exist any longer? The fact that elaborate security measures are still in place for Ministers, VIPs, and many others speaks for itself.

To allow parking of vehicles under the ‘Fly Over’ is courting disaster. A strict ban should be imposed on parking. In the interest of the general public, it is hoped that saner counsel will prevail and prompt action taken.
