The final of the Under-19 All Island Schools Girls’ Basketball Tournament was postponed to Sunday due to heavy rain yesterday.

The final between Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Colombo and St. Joseph’s Girls’ School, Nugegoda commenced despite the rain, but only the first quarter was possible and the officials decided to postpone the game to Sunday. Sirimavo were ahead 16-10 at the end of the first-half.

St. Paul’s, Milagiriya meanwhile won the consolation final beating Holy Family Convent, Kurunegala 52-33 to secure the third spot.

The winners were ahead 32-10 at half-time and held on to the lead in the next two quarters.

Lahiruka Weeraratne was the top scorer with 22 points for the winners while Umavi Ishika chipped in with six points. Pooja Dharmakeerthi meanwhile was the top scorer for the losers with ten points.
