

Delmege Super League cager tournament NTB has it easy
In a one-sided affair, Nations Trust Bank beat David Peiris Motor Company by 85 to 59, in an ‘A’ Division match in the on-going Delmege Super League Basketball tournament at Otter’s Aquatic Basketball courts, on Wednesday.
The two teams met each other for the first time in the tournament. NTB were ahead by 38 to 28 at half time and kept the pressure on NTB to emerge winners 85-59.
Prageeth Pushpakumara and Chalitha Kulawardena chipped in with 17 points each for the winners, while Asanka de Silva top scored for DPMC with 22 points.
Meanwhile, in a ‘B’ Division match, HNB outplayed Softlogic Group. At lemons, HNB were ahead 47 to 25 and went on to win the game 82-67.
Devon Rebert top scored for HNB with 27 points, while Rusiru Ranathunge was the top scorer for Softlogic Group with 18 points.
Thirty seven basketball teams from the Mercantile sector are competing in the tournament and are pooled into six divisions. Matches are being worked off daily at the Otter’s Aquatic Club courts from 6.00 pm onwards. The tournament is organised and conducted by the Mercantile Services Basketball Association and sponsored by Delmege Forsyth & Co. Ltd.
