Prof. Peiris meets with senior Nepali politicians in Kathmandu

Professor G. L. Peiris, Minister of Export Development and International Trade, addressed senior representatives of political parties in Nepal during the State visit of President Mahinda Rajapaksa to Kathmandu, recently.

The event, which took place in the Durbar Hall of Hotel Yak and Yeti, was presided over by Nilambar Acharya, President of the Constitution Drafting Committee of Nepal.

The leaders of the business sector in Nepal participated in the event.

Binod Kumar Chaudhry, President of the Chamber of Nepali Industries, welcomed Prof. Peiris and thanked him for addressing the political parties in Nepal at a critical time.

Minister Peiris, in his address, dealt with a wide range of constitutional, economic and political issues. The Minister’s address was followed by a lively question and answer session.

Among those participating were former Foreign Minister Dr. Prakash Chandra Lahani who represented the Rashtriya Janashakti Party of Nepal, former Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat, representing the Nepali Congress, Bishnu Poudel who spoke on behalf of the Communist Part of Nepal (UML) and Hari Roka, a member of the Constituent Assembly of Nepal.
