The presidential election will precede a parliamentary election and is likely to be held around the middle of January next year, authoritative sources said yesterday.

This is the word emerging from those privy to discussions within President Rajapaksa’s inner council.

It has already been made public that Rajapaksa will make an announcement at the SLFP’s annual convention next Sunday on what his plans are.
