Even though the owners of the team are yet to make an official announcement, Kolkata Knight Riders’ seniormost player Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that Australian Dav Whatmore will be the Indian Premier League side’s next coach.

Ganguly, who is strongly tipped to return as the captain of Knight Riders in the third edition of the IPL, said the team think-tank had informed him about Whatmore’s appointment.

"I was told that Whatmore will be our next coach. I know him for a long time. It will be exciting to work with him.

Whatmore is very experienced and I’m looking forward to his association," the former India captain said on Sunday.
