‘Munchee Youth 19’ Schools Cricket Tournament 2009/2010

The Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association together with Masscom Pvt (Ltd) are once again the proud organizers of the ‘Munchee Youth 19’ Cricket Tournament sponsored by Ceylon Biscuits Limited for the year 2009/2010.

Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association held hands with Masscom (Pvt) Ltd for the purpose of obtaining sponsorship for the Under 13 to Under 19 Cricket Tournaments.

Signing up a five year contract with Masscom (Pvt) Ltd boosted up the enthusiasm levels and made a clear difference by adding value to Sri Lanka Schools Cricket for example introducing schools Twenty-20 tournament among the young generation and having most popular cricketer competition for under 17- players.

As a result, this partnership with Masscom (Pvt) Ltd gave rise to many sponsorship opportunities for Sri Lanka Schools Cricket. As a result Ceylon Biscuits Ltd came forward to sponsor the Under-19 tournament and first ever Schools Twenty-20 tournament under its flagship brand ‘Munchee’. Under the sponsorship of Munchee Sri Lanka Schools Cricket received a cutting edge to give birth to many talented cricketing stars.

Munchee as a truly Sri Lankan brand considers the significance of assisting in the development of school cricket as a Corporate Social Responsibility since the county needs a meaningful programme to produce world class cricketers.

By taking Sri Lanka Schools Cricket tournament into the Provincial level, school cricketers from rural schools were given opportunities to be recognized for their talents and be trained for international tournament at the school level. By providing coloured clothing, white balls and making live commentaries aired by radio for tournaments held in rural areas, Masscom (Pvt) Ltd inspired many with the introduction of young talents and redefining cricket and revolutionizing the nitty-gritty’s of the cricketing world, by the level of innovation and motivation they pump in as a whole.

Group C: President’s College – Kotte, St. Benedict’s College – Kotahena, St. Joseph ’s College – Colombo, D. S. Senanayake College – Colombo, St. Sylvester’s College - Kandy, St. Sebastian’s College – Moratuwa,

Kalutara Vidyalaya – Kalutara, De Mazenod College – Kandana, Moratu Vidyalaya – Moratuwa.

Group D: Joseph Vaz College – Wennappuwa, Lumbini College – Colombo, Dharmapala Vidyalaya – Pannipitiya, Isipatana College – Colombo, Nalanda College – Colombo, St. Peter’s College – Colombo, St. Thomas’ College - Mt. Lavinia, Prince of Wales College- Moratuwa, Mahanama College – Colombo.
